If you do not have a VSI account, you can quickly create one here!Hi — I’m new and cannot figure out who I am replying to on the subject of Astrology and Vitiligo, but thank you for your thoughts and information.
Here is my take on it. In Western Astrology, my area of study, the natal chart contains planets and houses that are defined by the elements of Fire, Earth, Air and Water. A person with a predominance of placements in any one element may tend to exhibit characterstics proper to that element. For example, someone with an abundance of planets in a water sign or water house (Cancer, Scorpio or Pices) may be a noticeably emotional or feeling person. Someone with strong Earth in their chart (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) might tend to be unflappable in times of stress or have kinship with animals. An emphasis on Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)might indicate someone who is driven to action, a doer.
And alot of Air placements (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) might describe someone who is intellectual or of a nervous temperment.I have always believed that the more impressionable elements of Water and Air in a chart might indicate a person particularly subject to neurological problems. Please understand that I am simplifying a great deal here — Astrology is an extremely complex system, as is the human being. Using myself as an example, I have the Air element to an extreme in my chart, which made me quite a basket case as a child and teenager. Add to this my Moon afflicted by Saturn, both in Water, and the situation was ripe for a nervous disorder, which I consider the roots of my vitiligo to be — a combination of mental and emotional anguish, to which my physical system reacted to and which resulted in the skin condition called vitiligo. And, when the mental-emotional disturbances ceased, so did my vitiligo. Not gone, but not spreading. Very interesting!
I thank the writer for pointing out the Mercury connection, which adds substance to my theory.
Thank you all for this great site.Dentelle
