My son has vitiligo. He is patient of Dr. Grimes here in LA. When I took him to her first time. She put him on protopic. As per her opinion protopic is more reliable & tested. She also put him on vitamins. Recently I read dr. Montes book & as per his observation most of the times person with vitiligo is deficient of FOLIC ACIDE, B GROUP Vitamins, CALCIUM & IRON. He has successfully treated lot of his patients with vitamins. For some people vitamins my help stabilize their vitiligo if not repig. You can get blood work done to find out about any vitamin deficiencies. Currently my son is on multigenics chewable vitamins.

Did you have any success with NUVB? I am not sure but lot of people on this board have combined it with protopic. Do you have vitiligo only on face? Hope this helps. Good luck with your treatment

I was just wondering have you ever tried Protopic or elidel? If not you should. It works for most of the people. And face is really easy to repigment with it. Also are you taking any vitamins?
Van:
I have been giving him vitamins for about 2 1/2 years now. I think they did help him. When i first found out about his vitligo , i did liver function test & it came out normal. But he also often complains about fullness after meals & bloting. If he eats little more for a meal the surly he will have bowl movement within 1/2 an hour . are these all signs of digestive problen? I am concerned that he might also have digestive problem.

On this board there was a big discussion about vit C. Dr. Montes actually put some of his patients on Vit C supplement. The book is very good but probably I will need to read it one more time to understand it properly & get most out of it. Dr. Montes work on vitiligo patients as well as his study is amazing. From your several posts I understand that your daughter’s vitiligo is probably related to her digestive problems. How did you find out about her digestive problem? What tests did you perform other than liver function test? Have you ever tested her for any food allergies? or for gluten intolerance?
What kind of vitamins is she on now? How much she is taking each of it ? My son is on multigenics chewable vitaminsEACH TABLET SUPPLIES:

I know your question is for Van but i couldn’t resist to tell you my experience with protopic. My 4-year old son has vitiligo. And he is on protopic as well as multi – vitamins. Protopic works for most of the people. but you need to use it regularly twice a day. If you can expose yourself to sun, it will work even faster. you may not see the results immediately but keep using it for at least 6/8 weeks. I wish you good luck . hope it will disappear by your next b’day

If you are planning on drinking soymilk then I would suggest buy it in trader Joes or whole food stores (WESTSOY). Buy one with vitamin D in it. My 4yr old son drinks it every day.He use to love regular milk. But with soy his allergies have reduced. You may not like soymilk just by itself. buy flevored one. or start with having it in cereal & slowly increase. You will get use to it.

If your daughter does not like flaxseed oil then try mixing with salad or something. It should be cold press. There is no way I can make my son have it by itself or in salad or something. So what i do is buy flax seed cereal which he eats every morning. if you have any health food store around your place. You might find it there. You can also give her walnuts, which are good for skin. Or try grinding spoon full & mix with your atta whole family will benefit by doing that.
I am pretty sure that you can get omega 6 & omega 3 by eating fish. i ‘ll see the info on the back of my cereal box & let you know. But i know flax is vey high in fiber which is good for low fat diet.
