If you do not have a VSI account, you can quickly create one here! Thanks Neesha and Van! I try to keep myself informed about Vitiligo since most the Docs I have seen dont seem to be know much about it.
My treatment is going ok considering I havent had much time to apply it lately. But when I have consistantly used it, it has worked pretty good for me. I had a couple of spots on my eyelids. I was able to repigment by applying the paste regularly along with sunlight. It was slow, but steady (and exciting!!) progress. I was cheering for every damn little freckle

Basil and many other plants have a chemical called psoralen. Psoralens are photosensitizers, ie they make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. The basic principle is similar to PUVA (Psoralen-UltraViolet A). Only in your case, the psoralen is beeing applied topically instead of beeing ingested. So your treatment is basically what you could call “homemade topical psoralen” treatment. This technique has been used in India, China, Egypt etc for centuries. PUVA is a more sophisticated and optimized form of the above. See http://www.telemedicine.org/botanica/bot5.htm
The treatment I am trying required me to make a paste of this powder (i think it is basil and other leaves) using lime juice, apply on affected areas and expose to mild sunlight for 1-2 minutes max. Both lime juice (especially the lemon peel) and the powder contain psoralens.
hope that helps.
