It works but like evrything else, it is slooow. It takes time and patience. So if you’re the type that will try for a couple of weeks ang give up, then it may not be right for you.

I’ve always had someone in India pick it up and mail/bring it to me. The Doc has never seen me, but has seen my mom – she has very mild vitiligo as well and has been using it since she was 10. It has worked for her. It is basically topical PUVA, theres nothing unscientific about it. You can call and ask.

Tulsi is basil and I believe basil has psoralens (the P in PUVA). But I dont know how effective it will be if you just ingest a little.

I am currently using a topical treatment I got from Bangalore. It is a brownish powder that I mix with lime juice to make a fine paste. I then apply that to my Vit spots and expose to mild sunlight. You could call it home made topical psoralen. And it does work, but like all topical options, requires deligence. The ayurvedic Doc, N. Chandrasekhar, also recommends taking a medicine internally.

If you are interested in trying, here’s the address:
            Veerarathna Pharmacy
            No.1, 3rd cross, Journalist’s Colony
            Bangalore, Karnataka 560 002
            Office Ph 6707533 ; Home Ph 6694933

The oral medication is called “Switra Sudha Paka” and “Switra Niwarane Paka”. I dont quite remember what the podwer is called. But I believe it is basil powder.

By modern standards, this treatment is a bit crude, but I think the only decent treatment for Vitiligo is a combination of NB UVB, topical PUVA and immunomodulators. I try to stay as far away as possible from anyone who claims to have a “cure” for Vitiligo. As much as I wish there was a cure, we are not there yet.
