Hi people,
I just joined this board yesterday and it is really opening my eyes!
I’m a british asian guy (strange you should mention wesminster uni – I’m at their central london branch) and I’m havin a real nightmare with it!
I had a little bit (you couldn’t even see it) when I was a kid and then it lay doormant until 18 when it began but now I wear dermablend to cover the spot around my eyes and on my cheeks, which is a long process but has to be done! It’s slowly increasing, then gets better then increases – strange indeed!
With asian parents, i think they are trying to protect you and I know they really just want the best for you, but the way they go about things are funny. I’m quite fortunate as my parents are quite supportive of me but they don’t know the extent i have it as I know they’ll really worry. I’ve been to see prof schallreuter in germany and tried various things some of which have helped me repigment and some of which haven’t, but it’s a loooonng process and it costs an arm and a leg!
I get along with a lot of people and have a close circle of firends (one of them who knows someone totally depigmented) but i dont really want to bother them with the details, but they all know i have it and nothing more is really said as they don’t really know the extent i have it, but when we’re swimming etc, i add some coverup to my elbows and all is well. Girlfriends are all cool too, I’ll tell them about it after a month etc and they’ve always been understanding thankfully.
Those of you out there who show you vit I dont know how you do it and I must say that you are truly strong individuals.
Anyways, just wanted to let you know I’m amazed by this site – lets keep the experinces rolling and try and make the most of what we have!
Take care…
