    Dear Ashish,
I would advise you to immediately stop the steroid treatment. It only treats the effect and not the cause. Control her diet avoiding junk foods and including more green vegetables, fruits, whole grains. Vitiligo is not an isolated skin disorder. It is only one among the various auto immune disorders like asthma, eczema and cancer.

    Stop giving her

    Oily/fried foods
    Bakery foods
    Sugar and sweets
    Refined flour
    Milk and milk products

Give her linseed/flax seed oil/Cod liver oil regularly
Daily give her about 15 glasses of fresh water

    All the best

    Hi,
I was out of the group for a few months, busy with my thesis work. It would take another 2-3 months before I submit by final thesis. Vandana, I got a baby girl on August 27th. She is fine.
I used to get linseed oil from the shop opposite to my institute. It can be got from Camlin as well.
Those telephone numbers are now out of use. So anyone in Bombay can contact the company directly. True that it has an awful taste…That is why I used to take only one spoonful. Those who are not able to get/consume linseed oil may take cod liver oil capsules. It’s also rich in omega 3 fatty acids.
Victor, I would advice you to start controlling your diet immediately. It’s the first step towards stopping the spreading. Kindly try to avoid the food that I have mentioned in the post on natural living. Start living on green vegetables, whole grains and fruits. Take linseed oil/cod liver oil regularly. Try to get most of your vitamins through green vegetables..Go for vitamin tablets only as the last option. Drink plenty of water (around 15 glasses per day). You will definitely find a difference. You can start thinking about repigmentation once the spreading stops.

    Hi vandana,
It’s nice to interact with people who are health conscious, although we are forced to become so when we fall into troubles. Proper understanding of our body functioning is essential to overcome many hard health issues like vitiligo. Most of the trauma are best cured naturally. Awareness and practise seems to be equally significant. Busy with my thesis work, I am not so regular to Sun nowadays, but I am happy that my vit is stable and my skin responds to Sun. Pl. go through this when u find time..

    Vandana,
I would say swinzle should be trained to have a natural diet so that her vit will not spread further. You should make a chart of good and bad practices and make her convinced to live carefully. Also, meditation and yoga training…Since she is young and she has still a long way to go through the growth process, the favourable changes that you make during this period will reap significant returns for sure in the future. I feel the pigmenting response of the skin is dependent on our lifestyle as well. The better, the easier. Keep her away from all known depigmenting factors as it would prove risky experimenting, in her case. And I feel avoidance is more important than treatment in her case. As long as she’s young and follow a good lifestyle
there’s no reason why she should not respond well even to a simple sun exposure. No need to tell you all these…but just felt like telling. My prayers for her cure….

    God bless you,

in reply to: Babchi Oil #94678

Babchi or Bakuchi is the Sanskrit name for the herb Psoralia Corylifolia (Botanical name) . It contains large amount of Psoralen, a chemical that sensitises the skin to UV light so that the photochemical transformation of tyrosine( an amino acid) to melanin (the black pigment) is facilitated

perfect…! Cold water suddenly brings down the temperature wherever it touches…while drinking, from the mouth to the stomach. The activity of enzymes, present in these regions, involved in digestion is less at a lower temperature and thus the digestion is hampered. Moreover by suddenly taking away heat from glands like tonsils in the throat, it temporarily brings down the immunity and predisposes our body to infections. Also sudden temperature difference in the mouth cause weathering of the teeth rendering it more vulnerable to decay.

    Hi,
It’s Summer now. Interesting to see how vit spots react to morning sun. When I keep my legs in the Sun, I see the vit spots start becoming pinkish after 5 minutes, while the surrounding skin does not show any marked response. When I remain for 20 minutes almost all the patches are pinkish and the skin feels the heat. After standing for half an hour on my terrace I return to my room. I have been doing this for the last 1 month , and it’s really encouraging to see that in many of the regions, the area of patches have decreased and i can see more of normal skin there now. No Psoralen or any other application…Just simple exposure. Infact, psoralen makes the skin more sensitive to UV light and so if the vit spots are psoralen applied and the rest not, darkening is affected in the spots, thus removing the depigmentation contrast. But from my experience I feel that the rate of pigmentation is faster over the depigmented skin and as such the need for an application may not be there for everyone. Still better if one goes in the sun with a cloth that’s torn in the regions of white patches, covering all other regions and laying down in the morning sun for half an hour. For those with busy morning week days, this may be done, weekly once.. If you feel more intolerable heat over the skin and if you observe the skin getting burnt, go out of Sun. Telling this because sensitivity of the skin may vary from person to person. Best of luck for those who wish to try….

    Hi,
    Vitiligo in INDIANS…

DAIRY AND DAIRY PRODUCTS… India is the third largest producer of dairy after Argentina and Brazil and most of the Indians consider milk and milk products as easy sources of balanced nutition. It’s difficult to convince an Indian that Cow’s milk is not a benign food.

CONTAMINATION- Almost all green vegetables, grains and fruits available in India are heavily contaminated with pesticides, preservatives,
ripening and sweetening chemicals. They are not easily washed off by water and becomes a part of our food daily. These chemicals may aid mutation of our genetic structures and the defective genes could be passed on to the next generations and get expressed well in individuals with weak suppressive immune mechanisms….
