Hi vandana,
I get linseed oil from an oil store and don’t insist on any particular brand. I take one table spoon as such before bed . You may take it as a salad dressing as well. But never heat the oil before consumption. I am afraid til oil is not linseed oil. It’ s the local name for Sesame oil.bye,
BejoyHi vandana,
Linseed oil (also known as flax seed oil) contains essential fatty acids that clean up the toxins in the body. I have vitiligo on my knees and thighs and I noticed them around 7 months back. Since then it had been fairly stable apart from slight spreading during the periods of stress (Infact I could really make it out). It’s very important to realise (for a vitiligo patient) during every turn of life that if we ignore it and plummet into an unhealthy lifestyle, we may loose control over it. Infact you need a lot of support for maintaining this balance. You are doing a remarkable job as a mother. I believe that anything harmful for health is harmful for vitiligo as well and as such it’s good to follow a healthy lifestyle eventhough motivated by the treatment for vit.
Let’s help and pray for each other for the well being of all of us.Thank you for the link. It was really a good one…

BejoyHi,
I have not seriously started any treatment. Now I am on a controlled low fat low sugar diet with lot of green vegetables. I completely avoid any synthetic product . Now I see that my digestive system runs pefect. i have slowly started practising Yoga and meditation so as to bring down my stress level. I have been closely observing my patches and have realised that stress is the single major cause for its spreading. I have started taking linseed oil ( 1tablespoon at night) as a part of toxin cleaning process. Once in three days I do oil massage all over the body (and stay for 1/2 an hour before bath) by an oil containing ashwagandha purchased from Kottakkal Arya Vaidya pharmacy. This gives me a rejuvenated feeling all over the day. I am planning to include Bakuchi oil for oil massage.
Also I am planning to consult a homeopath in my native in Kerala who has cured one of my cousins. I do not know many homeopathic doctors in Mumbai who are effective but the one I know charges huge consultation fee. Recently I met one guy in my institute who has got tremendous improvement by an ayurvedic medicine. I was surprised to see some of his big white patches which are healing. He’s been with the treatment for last five years and confessed that he had not been regular with the medicines. I will get to know more about the treatment from him and let you know. If you could find any source of Apple cider vinegar in India, pl. tell. That seems to be a wonderful
medicine for skin ailments.bye,

BejoyThe general advice by doctors in India for avoiding Vitamin C (also for prescribing steroid drugs) is based on the conviction that vitiligo occurs as a hyperactive immune response. Since vitamin C is known to boost the immune system, it may presumably aggravate vitiligo. But looking at the cause of the hyperactivity, which is supposed to be the presence of toxins accumulating in the body and the proven efficacy of vitamin C in cleaning them (Due to its antioxidant properties) I feel it would be wise to choose the positive attitude of including vitamin C in the diet. However, the sour food sources of vitamin C may be avoided as acidic foods in general is not so healthy for the skin.

Dear All,
Thanks Rasmi for referring me to this forum. I started noticing my vitiligo spots around 6 months back and the following are my observations. I started getting them on some of the wounded areas on my knees. Then it seems to have spread up and now I have bilateral spots on my thighs and find new ones emerging on bony areas on my palms and one cut on my face.
I would like to know about the effective treatment options in India. Now as I walk through the street I find every one in 10 with vitiligo spots. I feel the awareness of this condition is less in India and most of the sufferers follow their routine lifestyle.
I feel the following Do’s and Don’ts should be strictly followed to bring back pigmentation and avoid spreading
Don’ts Do’s
non-vegetarian food including egg Drink atleast 8 glass of water daily
Dairy and dairy products Mild exercise like Yoga
Fried foods & onion Include greens and whole grains in the diet
Alcohol & Smoking Replace sugar with jaggery
Oily and spicy stuff Use Linseed oil
Stress Replace toilet soap with green/bengal gram flour
Sweets and bakery items Prefer Cotton cloths
Regular good sleep (atleast 7 hrs)Pl. provide suggestions from your experience….
thanks,
