So i have actually decided to do something about my vitiligo : have just been to get a blood test done and have been to a consultation for a treatment using bclear laser and pseudocatalase cream (read the other post on segmental vitiligo for more info) … just hoping that something will work.

    Van and Vishal,

Thanks for all the info/suggestions of the skin grafts/transplants… i have thought about this, but i don’t think there is a doctor near to where i live that will do this. Also, as Van said i think that it might be quite dangerous/difficult, especially since my vitiligo is only on my face.. Thanks for the links Vishal, they were interesting, it seems as though skin grafts/transplants are quite a popular choice with people who only have limited, stable, vitiligo.

Anyway… i was just getting sick of sitting here and doing nothing about my vitiligo… sick of putting makeup on every day and hating to look in the mirror… so i decided that ive got to do something. So after reading the posts on the main message board, this morning I went to see the nurse and she took some blood samples. Im getting my results back next week, shes going to check for thyroid levels, diabetes, iron level ..etc..

Also, last week I went for a consultation with a doctor who has a bclear machine (i think that its some sort of laser with UVB light) and he also has the pseudocatalase cream (but he said that its not the one from Germany, apparently the ingredients came from the US and the cream is made here in the UK..). Anyway his clinic is only about half an hours drive from where I live, so at the moment ive just been considering this. Ill have to go for the treatment twice a week, and initally, the doctor would like me to have up to 8 treatments to see if I start getting some pigment back. However, it is going to cost a lot, for the 8 treatments, altogether £425 and after that if it does start to work, the treatments can go on for months!!! What do u guys think about this??

    Thanks, Neesha

    Hi guys!

Anshu – nice to see you back, i see that you didnt find Jai on your travels! ;) Just wait till I find him and get the pics of him! :) How are you anyway?

Van – You know what you were saying to Vishal/Victor about his parents worrying…well i also hate my vitiligo and im always feeling depressed about it.. However, i always try to hide this from my parents, my mum especially, as i know how much this is effecting her. I always try to seem ‘not bothered’ about my vitiligo when i am with her, so that she doesnt worry.. but i think all of this worrying that i am keeping to myself is really not good for me, i worry about things over and over in my mind.. but i love my parents so much that i would never want then to worry also (well more than they already do)..

Vishal – im still checking your registry…and still waiting!!
    [QUOTED]
    You work !!!
    [/QUOTED]
Yes i do! Well… actually not anymore, i just finished the other day! (but yeah, shopping is my ‘real’ job! :)) I am a student, going back to university next week for my final year, im studying law, so i have been working at a solicitors office during my 4 months holidays. What do you do??
    [QUOTED]
dont you think one should get things straight and face the facts
    [/QUOTED]
Vishal, i kinda understand what your trying to say… that im actualy hiding from myself? I really think that your right in what your saying… but i guess its just me. At the moment, i really can’t accept this vitiligo, and i feel as though if people knew about it then it would be accepted and ‘real’… if you know what i mean. Im not really explaining this well, i hope that u understand a bit of what i am trying to say! I really hate my vitiligo and feel really concious about it, maybe coming out about it and not wearing makeup would help – but i really don’t feel as if i could do this at this time in my life…..

Take care guys, talk soon :P
