I was just reading something on the main message board and came across this: Apparently you can buy UV light units, without a prescription, from a company located in Australia: http://www.beatpsoriasis.com – you could check it out, im not sure whether they have handheld ones as well as full body units. Good luck!

When is your appointment with the derm? Good luck with that and let us know what treatments you decide on! Hope everything goes well…

have booked an appointment with a derm I found
[/QUOTED]Victor and Van,
We have a bottle of ‘Linseed Oil’ at home, which could be the same as ‘Flaxseed Oil’…. My aunty uses it for mainly as a dressing to put on salads and stuff. I had it once and it tasted awful!! ….I was just in the kitchen now looking at the bottle, it had some directions written on it, something like: Linseed Oil does not have a very pleasant taste and that it should be taken mixed with things like juices or yoghurt. Also, Van, you said that Bejoy takes a spoonful a day, whereas on the bottle it said that adults are recommended to take 2-3 spoonfuls a day…. Anyway it said other things aswell but i didnt have time to look cos’ my mum came into the kitchen and was wondering why i was reading things on the bottle of oil! lol!

Kya yaarrrrrrr, that’s the last thing I ever want to hear.
[/QUOTED]
….sorrryyyy….!… as you said its your personal choice, thats fine… i understand cos’ i would never consider depigmentation either.
[QUOTED]
Anyways, how are you Neesha, nice to be talking to you after a long time. How have you been?
[/QUOTED]
Yep nice to be talking to you too! …Im just enjoying the last few weeks of my four months holidays before i go back to university … then all the stress of exams and assignments will start again! … well atleast it’ll be my final year! As for the vitiligo, well im just glad that its stable…i havnt been using any treatments for a while, and im happy that way, …but have an appointment with my derm at the end of october, so maybe ill start NB-UVB again …hmm ill see what happens. (then my face will be really dark again! hate it when that happens!).
[QUOTED]
but kya yaar, me use all that, have some pity on me…..hehehehehe……………..lol…………
[/QUOTED]
…hehehe..lmao! …yeh i guess in a way its easier for a gal to use all that makeup, hairdye and stuff! But i know a lot of guys with vit who dye their hair and use camouflage makeup…. its hard tho i know… For me, i love my makeup and hairdye and i probably wouldnt be able to live without it! lol! Dunno what id do….
[QUOTED]
now I am starting to get white hair also. Maybe I should just rip them out.
[/QUOTED]
Exactly how i used to feel….(btw ..just in case your being serious! lol! don’t do it!!) off topic – but you know i always wanted to get my hair braided but now its not possible with all the white patches of hair and scalp…….Victor, why do you think that your vit started to spread? was it stable for some time before? Have you been under a lot of stress? Or maybe do you think it has anything to do with the UVB or vitamins?
Take care, keep in touch.
[QUOTED]
There is has been encouraging result by UV light
[/QUOTED]
Just thought id give you my experience with NB-UVB – i did it for a year altogether, twice a week.. i had to go to the hospital here (in the UK) for it under the supervision of my derm and also nurses. I guess that different things work differently for different people… i did gain some of the pigment back in freckles on my forehead but it didnt work at all on the patch that is on the side of my neck. I used a full body unit (cos’ its the only one they have and i only exposed my face/head) – i sometimes think that the light wasnt getting directly to the side of my neck, cos of it being on a slant, maybe a handheld one would work better…..Anyway, goodluck with getting a handheld light, a woman i met at the hospital who was also trying NB-UVB had excellent results!
Neesha
PS. Sanju, as Van said you can get a handheld light from Chris Cane (UVGuy), you can get to his company site, Amjo Corp, by clicking on the banner on the homepage… however i have just tried it and it doesnt seem to work – so here is the link: http://www.homephototherapy.com … Also try: http://www.daavlin.com
September 1, 2004 at 11:25 am in reply to: please suggest some good dermatologists in atlanta, georgia area #107090Hi Trisha,
Welcome to the site! There is a lot of excellent information here and loads of wonderful and supportive people… Don’t be disappointed by what the derms you have seen have said, there are a lot of doctors who don’t know anything about vitiligo. Im glad that u have found this site so that u can read how many different treatments there are for your husband to try. Some people at this site even take information from it to show their derms!
Im sorry that i can’t answer your question about good derms in Georgia (i live in the UK!) but maybe others can help you with that…? Also, why don’t u try posting on the main message board, you’ll probably get more responses there. Have you tried the ‘doctor search’, which is on the left side of the screen under ‘vitiligo tools’? Anyway just wanted to welcome u to the site!
Neesha
Hi Victor,
Sorry to hear that your vitiligo is spreading… i only have a small amount of vit on my face and neck and i am so glad that it is stable. All i can say is that u have to stay strong (this is coming from me! with only very few patches of vit – i hate it and don’t know what i’d do if it spread).. Victor, are you taking any treatments at the moment? How much would u say that u are depigmented? Have u considered depigmentation? I think that others here have done it, Ria? and Van is considering it for her daughter? …i know that i would never depigment even if my vit spread but some people are much happier depigmenting when their vit has spread a lot.
About the white hair (ive just posted something similar on the main message board) – i have patches of white hair on my head and my left eyebrow is also partially white. I dye my hair atleast once a month with ordinary hair dye and just use a back eyeliner pencil or mascara for my eyebrow… i have tried a lot of treatments (indian and chinese herbal medicines, homeopathy, steroid cream elocon, acupuncture!, NB-UVB and probably loads of other stuff that i can’t remember now), unfortunately none of them has worked, i have never gained any colour back into those areas of my hair but at least they havnt spread.
[QUOTED]
Just going crazy looking at all this.
[/QUOTED]
Yep, thats exactly how i felt when i first found my vit (about 2 years ago) and i still do sometimes….. i hate having to put makeup on every single day but i feel much better when i do and i can actually look into the mirror without hating how i look….Take care, Neesha
