hi van…first of all i have to say….u have a beautiful daughter!

Looking at her pictures, i think her vit is far more progressed than mine ever was. I had vit since i was 12, and was treating it aggressively for about 8 – 9 years, keeping it in check. However when i decided to depigment it was after years and years (almost 18 – 19) of loss/gain of pigments.
Unfortunately,i think the biggest challenge that most pple go thro with the depigmentation is just getting a derm who is knowlegdable and willing to prescibe depigmentation as an option. Even here in the US, that still remains a challenge for a lot of people, altho its better than some other parts of the world.

I have never heard of any kids undergoing depigmentation, only cos parents here would like the kids to make their own decisions when they reach that maturity level of age 17 or 18 and not make the decision for them…… strictly in my opinion i dont think that age should be a criteria….. kids (esp with vit, are far more mature as compared to their counterparts), because of the challenges they have to face on a daily basis….i can say that from experience…… when it comes to pple with darker skin tones, like indians, it can be really traumatic going thro life…..

Choosing to depigment is a very personal decision with its own trials and tribulations along the way, i am sure u have read the various complications some of us have with the repigmenation and sensitivity to sun…….. Have u tried talking to your daugther about this option explaining in great detail what it means? U know your daughter best and would know if she is mature enough to make this life altering decision.(in my opinion tho, its a life altering decision for the better, cos growing up with extensive vit is no picnic)
All i can say is, i dont regret making this decision and wish i had done it earlier……..Life has a whole diffrent meaning to me now and i am loving every minute of it……….

Good luc and keep us posted….

hi van…i have been following ur posts on and off regarding ur daughter’s vit…how much percentage of vitiligo does ur dtr have?
from my exeperience, ( i am depigmenting, almost 80 – 90 % done)……..thats the best thing i have ever done for my vitiligo.i only wish i could have done it earlier in life. But better late than never…. Life is great after being all one color. Even tho i am too light to be indian…….. its beats being multicolored anyday! So good luc with whatever u decide for ur daughter…….
                    Its been great for me!
