    Dear Vitiligoindian

You do sound pretty knowledgeable !!! Can I possibly email you my details. Am not quite sure what to make of Astrology but do respect our ancient traditions enough to know that if there is so experience there must be something pretty interesting about it.

What soft ware do you use ? and dont you think it would be interesting to do a study on all the people with vit here and see if a pattern emerges ??

    Hi nessraia!

Thanks for the info ! Would this apply to jaggery too ? Do you use the molasses yourself ? I have read about your experience with natural therapy for your vit – am impressed by your diligence.

    Hey van,

Sounds scrumplicious !!!! You will have a tummy ache with all my envious looks ( Oh my kaju barfi my absolute fave!!!) way before you gain the wt lol !!!!! So I guess now I have a good and legit reason to feast on the blackstrap molasses too !!

PS just kidding – enjoy some of the barfi and pedas on my behalf too !!!!

    Hey Van

Blackstrap molasses is freely available here – tastes goooood ( I have a sweet tooth) – is also a very good source of iron ! i use it in short spells as I tend to be iron deficient on occasion – ( incidentally jaggery is great for that too !!) Is it considerd to be good for vitiligo ?

well, as I mentioned earlier I think it sorta helped that I feel this sense of energy that I never feel like when I do take in processed foods so it is a kind of negative feedback mechanism. I kind of stumbled into it and have tried to stick to it since then. I sometimes fail ( usually when I go out for dinner – what I call the sweet sabotage – where family and friends insist to a point that I have to eat something on my taboo list – of course I do understand that this is well motivated but…………..)

And it helps that I have substitiutes like lotsa fruits and veggies, rashmi, so it works out ok. And eggs, fish and chicken help to keep up my protein levels (along with dals and beans!).

Well, about 6 months now – now maybe once a week I will indulge but it is usually strictly for one meal and then it is when I go someplace where I cannot get any alternative at all. I do tend to miss my sweets – but have been trying to use fruits to appease my sweet tooth instead usually works !!

Would love to eat only mangoes but sigghhhhh could not get enuff or afford enough !! I love my berries ( any kind – strawberries, rasberries, blueberries whatever) and will usually make a smoothie for breakfast. Lunch is strictly raw veggies – usually salad and dinner varies – stir fry vegetables, lentil soups ( yeah my angrez version of a dal), vegetable soups, paneer stuff, sometimes things with grilled chicken or fish and fruits. Oh yes and one cup of coffee per day – this is a major weakness ! I snack on nuts of various kinds.

The thing I miss most are hot freshly baked breads and of course desserts so about once a month I will make some for the neighbourhood and we will all make a party of it. This has all made me feel better than I have ever felt (as decrepit and old as I am lol) but has not made any difference to my vit.

I really do think that processed wheat and other foods do not suit me – maybe my metabolism cannot take them. I know other people on whom it has not worked at all – they felt weak, dizzy and so forth.

Have you always been vegetarian van ??
