in reply to: What treatment to take for 1cm patch near eye #154326

    Hi Madhavi,

I started seeing positive results after 2 months of application. Some patches then respond very fast towards repigmentation while others can be much slower. All the best in your efforts.

    Hi Vineet,

Can you give us feedback on the hand-held UV-B. Are you finding it effective and is it helping in repigmentation?

in reply to: I am taking Dr Batra’s Homeopathic treatment #150802

    Hi,

I too personally know a person whose vitiligo which was stable for many years increased a lot after him starting Dr Batra’s treatment. Tacroz Forte 0.1% (protopic) and NB-UVB sre the best available options according to me. Since one can start seeing the results fast (2-3 months) it helps to keep one motivated for the treatment.

in reply to: Dermablend in india? #150480

    Hi Muslimah,

I have been using Dermacolor since 3 years and there has been no side-effects at all. One of the Doctors did tell me that it might slow the repigmentation process…etc but I have 100 % repigmented a few spots on my face where i was using Dermacolor. So for the face I will recommend Dermacolor. However it is not very effective on the fingers as it tends to rub off.

in reply to: Dermablend in india? #150276

    Hi Muslimah,

I have purchased Dermablend from a Health n Glow outlet in Commercial Street, Bangalore. It is called Vichy’s Dermablend (French Co). I use Dermacolor on my face but bought Dermablend as I was going for a wedding and it does a slightly better job of camouflaging the fingers. The pack consists of concealer, fixing lotion and powder and all of them together cost around Rs 3000. If the vitiligo is not very extensive I was told the pack will last for 5-6 months.

It costs Rs 275 there and its really worth it.

In the short term i feel that what can really help vitties in india is directing them to this site. There is tons of useful information here and hundreds of active participants. They can read about the latest treatments and make a more informed decision. Whenever i meet any vit person i always do ask him to check out this site.

    Hi Sanjay,

I suggest you take the inputs from vitiligo foundation with a pinch of salt. I remember reading all this in the first months i had vit and this had made me more depressed and worried. Also i read an interview of a famous doctor of mayo clinic, usa wherein he said that once pigment is lost it can never be regained. I get a feeling that everyone is clueless about vitiligo as yet. However in my personal experience i have repigmented 70-80% on my face by using tacroz forte over a period of one year. Also have come across people who have repigmented by unani, homeopathy, ayurvedic treatments. So its just a question of what clicks for your body.

    Hi Sanjay,

In my opinion i will suggest you to hang on and not go in for depigmentation. I have seen those who have depigmented and to be frank for us Indians that looks very abnormal too. Perhaps for westerners its easier as they are already so pale. The treatments available today are much more promising and effective than those available five years back and we can hope for something better in the coming years.
