      Hi sanjay…
Thats what i was worried about too, i wasnt too sure if i would be a candidate for depig or not. Luckily, i found a derm who is very very kind, and considerate, and does have a lot of experience in the field.
When i asked my derm about the percentage of involvement of vit…. he said, in a way… i was 100% INVOLVED, altho not 100% depigmented… the diffrence being, that, every aspect of my skin from head to toe, had spots… i had like a millioin tiny white spots all over my body, and some huge patches on the visible areas… So… in a way so to speak, i do have a lot of pigment left, at the same time, i have spots all over.
The derm’s very first recommendatioin for me was to depigment, so i was glad.

The dern that i go to, considered a few things before, he suggested depig for me. It was not just he percentage of involvment. First of all…. i have had this condition for 19 years, have tried every treatment in the book, with some success but not good enuff, Secondly, i was old and mature enough to make the decision, and also i had done a very thorough research of depigmentation even before i went to see him… so based on all that, he knew i was more than ready to start with the procedure.
      So… thats my story….

      Ria.

            Hi sanjay…
i have been a; member of this group for over a year now. I used to post very frequently before, but have kinda slowed down a bit now. But i do visit the site at least once a day, altho dont get to read ALL the posts.
ya, being diagnosed at age 12 was no fun in the park. For the most part, it was alrite at that time, mostly cos i was in BIG TIME DENIAL. I had this thing at the back of my mind, that… ‘oh it will go away’… School wasnt too bad, for that matter college wasnt either, For the most part becos i HARDLY socialised. Now looking back on those years, i see how much i missed out in life.
Anyhow, currently, i am depigmenting, have been on the procedure for over a year now. My vit has been out of control and it has spread to a point, where neither do i have the desire to repigment nor the time/patience/ money. Have fought this thing enough for 11 years, now, i want something more permanent, and put it all behind me and move on.
i am 29, single, working two jobs… that pretty much summaries my life now ;)

Wish u luc with ur new treatments…From what i read, lot of people are getting very good results, with NBUVB… So, keep going.

            Good luc….

            Regards

              HI sanjay..
Yes, its very sad, to see how many innocent people get duped by those quacks… I havent been ‘lucky’, all the way thro…. i have had my share of experiences too, that i would rather just block out of my memory. I have seen my parents spending thousands and thousands of rupees, trying to get me ‘cured’…..

The only reason i wanted to make a point about the ‘Unani” institute was becos, i felt that they were among the better ones in the country, and i didnt want people reading these message boards getting the wrong impression.

*Finally its good to see this message board busy ;)

                HI sanjay….
U are completely entitled to your opinions…but there are some aspects, that i beg to differ.
U say, that they use a crude form of PUVA…..which is true, but i dont think the institute ever said, they were not using those principles. PUVA is ALSO one of the known methods of treatment, and there are many people who do get results from it. So, whats wrong in trying it? And secondly, from what i know, this institue is a research facility, and is completely FREE, (at least it was back in those days). I can understand, your ‘frustration’ of being duped by Miracle Doctors, but being a research facility, i dont think the doctors out there are spending all their time/money/energy to dupe people, and get nothing back in return.
U mentioned, that, they ask u to apply an herb and sit in the sun, and u are bound to get some freckles anyway…… well, isint t hat the whole point of the treatment anyway…. Dont we ALL just want our color back, and doesnt it start with freckling?
I am curious to know if u have tried THIS particular treatment or not? Have u ever been to hyderabad? to the Unani institute?
I have been,!! and i did get back almost 90% of my color back. The reason i had to stop was for personal unavoidable circumstances. I was very very happy with their treatment, and altho years later, i have lost a lot of my color, i dont blame them even for a moment, cos they didnt promise me a miracle cure. i was glad i got what i got when i got it.
And the diet restrictions and the theory u are talking about……..boy o boy! who have u been talking to???
I followed their diet restrictions down to the last ‘full stop’……and it definitley helped in getting my color back. And their theory had got more to do with the actual melanin prodution, rather than ‘items just being white causing white patches’.

I do agree, from what JAI has described, that it seems like torture to have to go thro all that….but when u are part of a research team, we are in part being ‘guinea pigs’… voluntarily.Today, this might seem like torture, but who knows, ten years down the road, if they do indeed come up with a cure, this might all be worht it… and we will never know, if we dont try it.

Sorry, didnt mean to make it this long….and btw… by no means was this post meant to offend u.. i am sorry if it did. but i just felt i needed to make some points known.

Feel free to post back with your opinions, so we can continue this discussion…
                Regards
