        Hi saraswathi,

I am glad ur spirits are being bososted. See Jai also joined in .. to tell u don`t let vit get a hold over u and rule ur life. I know easier said than done when u see it spreading … but u have to be strong. Divert ur mind elsewhere so that hobbies and other thigs keep u occupied and u have less time to dwell over vit. Shed some weight .. and that will make u feel better.. eat healthy… cut out fried foods and high sugar stuff.. cola drinks etc. Go for low fat milk and yogurt… that really helps u reduce. Excercise.. just a brisk walk everyday if not aerobics.

i don`t know if u have seen my daughter`s pics.. if u go back on the topics( next 30 topics )… u will find a lot of interesting messages from bejoy..talking of nutrition etc…and also a link to my daughter`s pic.. ( i think topic is called treatment with melanocyl-pics ) u will see how extensive her vitiligo is.. and now it is much more… but she does not care a damn… i buy her full knee length socks to cover her legs.. and when she is back from school they r pulled down to her ankles ! She is tops in her class.. very popular and takes a go at everyhting in life. Just telling u this.. that she does not the vit bother her.. and others also don`t botther abt it.. initially ppl are curious to know what it is. but later ppl accept u with it. She studies in an international british school where there are 24 nationatlities of kids .. but they all accept her as she is… eevn tho they have never seen a person with vit before !

Gina is another very confident person here.. ..:) who goes out to do whatever she inspite of vit. !

So cheer up, change ur attitude.. and u will feel better…!! Hoping to see a cheery new saraswathi !

          hi jagan,

Sunblock is important if u r in sunny places like Malaysia and Singapore….! With ur kind of job u must be out in the sun more too. I have seen once my daughter got burnt with the exhaust of a motorcycle on her leg.. and thats the only spot which has never lost colour while the rest of the legs are stark white. IF u burn and regain colour.. its hard to depig that.. so apply the sunscreen generously while u r out.. and about…. so that u don` get sunburn.

Did u get itching/rashes from the medication ? 40% concentration may acclerate the process. I was going to suggest the depig forum to u.. but i saw u are already mingling with the people there :)

Thnx for the offer.. ur job sounds very interesting… tho the repitles makes me go eeeks…lol ! U must indeed be a true animal lover. i will probably be coming in july only when the kids have hols… i will let u know…

          thnx,

            hi jagen,

Good to hear from u :) A bit of misunderstanding.. my daughter has been depigmenting… but so far naturally.. have not used any chemicals yet… she has exensive vitiligo… and after all possible treatmens i have given up… so just recently i have ordered Hydroquinone Monobenzyl Ether 20%. Hubby is a pharmacist so he will compound it. I really don`t know how much it will cost. ( coz getting the raw material )I will let u know. As such it was not available in Penang at least thru derms , so ordered thru the net.

How much are u apying there for it ?? Has the derm there prescribed it for u ?? How long have u been using and how is the progress ??

I was reading ur reply to Gina.. and it was interesting to read that u work in the zoo there. What exactly are u in charge of ? Maybe next time i am in s`pore i will look u up !

Good wishes.. n wish u speedy depig !

              Saraswathi,

why don`t u treat the new spots coming up.. immediately with tacroz ( elidel/protopic counterpart in india) maybe it will curb the spread ??

i know vitligo is so disheartening… but come on its not the end of life… gather up ur courage and meet n deal with it head on…. don`t let it pull u down in life…. there is more to life than vitigo. a cosmetic prob shd not ruin ur life.. remb that.

cheer up… there are so many of us , like u, with vitligo.. so pick urself up and don`t let viitligo depress u.
              good wishes,

                  Hi saraswathi,

Steroids do make u put on loads of weight…. they make u hungry and angry too ! I remember when my daughter was taking it.. she used to throw awful temper tantrums. Mostly people with vitiligo have digestive problems too… it could be liver dysfuntion, acidity, indigestion, constipation etc. Special attention then needs to be taken for that. As i told a diet with fruits n veggies + juices makes ur system run more efficiently. Then of course there are a lot of herbs available in India fo digestive problems inc ase u suffer from any.
lower the junk in ur meals :)

                    hi saraswathi,

The Pau D` arco tea can be found on the net. Green tea u can get in India too.. i dunno about ur place but definitely in Assam. I have no idea about milk thistle availability in India but u can buy it on the net too. Once a herbalist told me milk thistle is like liv 52.
Frankly i think u have to be consistent with whatever treatment u take and patient too… coz repigmentation is a very slow press.
How much is ur viitligo ?? i suggest u eat a healthy diet.. cut down on fats and junk food. Eat more of fruits and vegeatbles ( more of raw ) and if possible juices ( home made .. not the ones in the mkt which contain so much flavour, colouring and preservatives )

                    bfn

                      hi
                      welcome here :)
Glad to hear that u r looking at the brighter side of vitiligo !!! Like u, my daughter is also depigmenting ( maybe i could say 50% depigmented ) and i think its best to be one colour when u have such extensive vitiligo. Are u using benoquin etc to accelerate depigmentation ??
Btw, I am an Indian , residing in Malaysia- Penang.

                              saraswathi,

sorry to hear what u r going thru….. i can imagine how frustrating it can be.. to agin colour at one place and lose at another. This is vitligo… it has no pattern…. sometimes some treatments onset this kind of thing or it maybe natural routine depigmentation. For my daughter whenever i have started any treatment.. she repigments at places and depigments at others.:( For the face i have seen regular use of steroid creams helps to restore pigment fast. What treatment are u presently using ?? i think u mentioned UVB ?

                              hope this helps..

                                hi saraswathi,

yes all homeopathic doctors stress on -no sour stuff. Even unani and ayurvedic treatments have the diet thing. I really don`t adhere to any diets… for my daughter but i see that she eats healthy… more of fruits and vegetables and natural wholesome food rather than processed stuff. I do give her vitamin C also… as kids are prone to coughs and cold so often vitamin C helps her in keeping healthy. Most westerners take high doses of vitamin C.
As far as A/ C is concerned … in today`s world its difficult to avoid it….. but i have never heard it spreads vitiligo as such. Of course a/c air is not as healthy.. but then outside also there is so much pollution … u cannot escape the enviorment.
