A lot of people on this site say that their vitilgo spreads during the summer and during winter it is mostly dormant or does not spread so much. I know the tan makes the contrast more …and the lesions stand out. sighhhh… yeah with vitiligo its an ongoing battle all the time… and when u think u are winning it suddenly rears its head again.i know just how u feel…when the worries come flooding back every nite …. but one has to leearn to accept it… in the sense u know u are doing the best for ur kid.. there is nothing more to do… and u hv to leave it to god. I too slack up on vitamins at times… so its ok. Kids also get up of swallowing pills…. u need to give them a break too.
I have always talked openly with my daughter abt vitiligo…. i hv shown her pictures, talked in school with her teachers , her friend`s parents n so on… so that people hv learnt to accept her…. and she does not feel self conscious abt it. She knows she is on the only one with vitiligio and its a common thingy and kids and adults all over the world hv it. She knows i am very active on this site..and she knows some ppl i talk to… and i tell her whenever there is something interesting going on.. conference pics n so on.. Other than school , people do stare n stare at her … but somehow i hv seen she just does not notice it.
Try and keep ur son`s skin moisturised…. that will help. Keep him happy and remember kids are sensitive .. ur worrying and distress gets to the kids even tho u may not voice it…. so stop worrying. what has to happen, happens…. deal with it when u come across it.. don`t worry abt it before things happen.
wishing u the best..love, n blessings…

Swinzle`s vitiligo is extensive and spreading.. whatever treatment i use… there is more spreading. She is sick of being treated, hates the pills, creams and the works… I asked her if she wanted to depigment… ( she saw some depigmented ppl in india )she said ok…if it does not involve any treatment… i was looking for a doc for advise but cld not find a good derm in india. Out here there are none, knowledgeable, enuff. As of now… i am letting her just be as she is and let nature take its own course. Pseudocatalse , well did think of it one stage but the procurement and shelf life are difficult tasks. I know dr grimes is an excellent doc but the problem is swinzle just hates any kind of treatment… and the older she is growing more difficult it is getting. .. Thank u for ur kind and generous offerSorry to hear about ur son having spreading too.. did u try any homeopathy while in india ?? Is he just on protopic ? Don`t worry abt the lips… children do have dry cracked lips. As someone mentioned it appears as pink when vitiligo strikes. Dryness may cause discolouration but that does not necessarily mean vitiligo. Don`t worry… it just spoils one`s own health .. i hv gone thru acute phases of worry and have landed up with acidity. i take one day at a time.. and don`t look too much into the future…
take care, good wishes,
