I have talked with my daughter quite a few times and she loves the idea of depigmentation.. … as she thinks ohhh no more of those treatments and the sun ! lol… she likes the idea of being white.. even tho she knows that being brown skinned, it may raise some eyebrows. Her vitiligo since last 4 months has been spreading more…. and there seems to be no hope of repigmenting such an extensive area. I think i should start looking for a derm to help me out. You have further inspired me to go for it… will keep u posted and seek ur advice as i go along….
Thanks.. and all the best to u,

oops…. i made a mistake.. its 1.8 yrs the treatment not months as i wrote by mistake…so thats nearly 2 yrs.
u yourself have seen that stopping the steroid , u lose colour again… then whats the point in carrying on with it ? Itdoes stop the spread thats certain.
Everybody is different…. and i feel swinzle`s viitligo is very volatile and the spreading kinds.. for some others.. its just few spots and it stops. yes, laser and grafting are the two options if the vitiligo is stable.. i think there is a noble clinic in b`lore doing it. It does solve the problem permanently if it is done properly by an expert.
which other derms have u consulted in delhi ?? i had consulted one lady derm in def col… ( forget her name ) she herself has viitligo ! then the behl clinic in LSR.. people told me not to go there. There is a doctor francis in b`bay who people say is the best…is what i hv heard. Dr schalulter is in Germany. wherabouts do u stay in delhi ?? Had i known u earlier.. we could have met ! I was there for over a mnth.
Thanks for ur kind words Ashish… i just do hope swinzle stays this way as she grows older too…!
Take care.. and love to ur li`l girl.hi ashish,
yes we have dealt with the same issue…. thats why i don`t want somebody else to repeat the same mistake… i am basically indian.. from delhi.,, residing in malaysia since the past 14 yrs. My daughter, swinzle is 11 now.. she developed vitiligo at the age of 6. I went to a family friend derm.. Dr Ramji Gupta ( he sits in various clinics, was earlier in AIIMS ) At that time we were desperate… and we went for this treatment.. Along with betnesol… he gave one more tablet… levamisole…( sorry abt the spelling ) which acts like an immunomodulator i think. My daughter has extensivve viitligo… on the legs, face and a bit on the arms, less on the body trunk. she repigmented most of it. she took the medication for abt 1.8 mnths. About two months after stopping she started losing colour and developing new spots too. she did not gain much weight… and no visible side effects.. but tell u what it did affect her… eyes and height ( later ) and maybe who knows the bones too. The liver too gets affected sometimes. Its a heavy price to pay…In India.. this is a very common treatment given.. which does bring results…but …once u stop…..
I have gone thru a no of treatments.. u name it i have tried it….. protopic, elidel, UVB, melanocyl, high doses of vitamins, steroid creams, PUVA , tolernorm oil, ayurveda.I had recently gone to India… and relatives coaxed me to try homeopathy.. which i am presently doing.
I am gald to hear ur daughter`s vitiligo is not extensive. Has she repigmented on her spots with betnesol ?? U need to expose a lot to sun also to repigment. Yeah i used to apply steroid cream also ( Flucort and cutivate ) I suggest u stop the betnesol and go for some other treatment…under the guidance of a derm. You can voice ur fears to the derm and ask him to follow up with some other treatment. Btw, does ur daughter by any chance suffer from any digestive problem ?? Mine does and i firmly believe vitiligo is a manifestation of the faulty digestion.Swinzle has extensive vitiligo..u can see her pics in one of the msgs. … but she is an extremely confident girl and does not care a damn abt her spots. I hope i have answered all ur questions…
all the best…
vandanaI am wondering why it did not work….i checked up mine – it says .75% and it has to be diluted 10 times ! soo I guess concentration is right.. maybe there was not enuff sun to triggger repigmentation. I remb i had used UVB light (1- 2 mins back n front ) as when i initially started the treatment , it was not sunny here and was raining for days. In the third exposure her spots had turned pink.

I am all for depig now.. i am tired of all the treatments. .. so is my daughter. I cannot find a derm to help me out, to depig in Malaysia. Recently i was in India and even there too depig was something derms did not know much about. Seemed i knew more than them !!! Daughter is 11 and i would say she is 40 % depig. I haven`t heard of any kids depigmenting on this board.. wonder if there is an age limit to depigment. Here is a link which will show u the extent of depig on my daughter… what u see is some mnths old pic.. now the spread on the hands and thighs is more.. and some has come on the face too. What would u advice ?

mitesh,
oxasalren usually works very well and gives results. Did u expose to sun AFTER application ??( say abt 30-60 mins later ) and for how long ?? Did u use very diluted form of it ?
