yes, i have seen the spots come back after i stopped the steroids. steroids as such cause thinning of the skin so one has to be make judicious use.
i cannot say about bawachi oil as such because i am not using that right now. i am sure, if u start application/treating a spot as soon as u see it ,it sure should work. i guess if u arrest spread at the onset it really helps. repigmentation is a slow process- everybody is different -what works for one may not work for the other.
my daughter is in 5th grade and has long school hours( comes back around 5pm ) so i can apply topical psoralen only 2 days in a week.
from what i have read on this support group, i have concluded that nb uvb helps maintain colour. i am sure there maybe other things but we don`t know…. ..yet ! lets hope that a cure comes thru !!
keep us posted on your daughter`s progress..

hi gurmeet and padma,
nice to hear from u both…
i know about bakuchi oil and have used it. its just like psoralen. the whole problem of vitiligo is… there are various treatments by which u can regain colour.. but the problem lies in not losing regained colour and stopping the spread of vitiligo.
Dr jobanputra several people have tried his treatment as i have read from various posts and it has not worked for anybody.
from experience i can say topical steroids do work initially on young kids.
i have consulted some doctors in delhi and the treatments are the same. only one thing i found different was the placentrax lotions. i am going to try these as i bought some from delhi when i recently went there.
sorry to hear that ur daughter`s is spreading padma..i know how it is..gives u sleepless nights. my daughter`s started with a small spot but then spread very fast like wildfire. she regained a lot of it with various treatments but depigmented again so its a vicious circle.. goes on.
now i am thinking of going for a ubv nb home unit which helps in maintaining regained colour. Its a good idea to consult dr grimes. one needs some doctor to monitor and advice treatment.
i also tried tolenorm oil for a while with no results.
take care

dr rizvi`s website looks impressive ! i sure will let u know ,if i know of anyone who has taken treatment there.
my daughter has been thru a series of stuff.. i hv tried several things.. she developed vitiligo at the age of 6 years ( she is 9.5 now )I have tried steroids steroid creams, herbal stuff, solar PUVA, nb uvb ( for a very short time..as the doctor is very far for me ) The past 3 mnths i have been using protopic with sun.. but no results I will stick to it for some more months. I am also thinking of starting her on placentrax injections and lotion.( very popular in india ) She also takes B vitamins. she has regained colour and pigment with treatments but then she loses it again…..
its always an ongoing battle…u have to try different things and see what treatment suits your kid and then stick to it.
who has it in ur family , daughter ?? what treatment are u giving?
